Flowing through the heart of Shanghai, the Suzhou River witnesses a story of desperate love and loss.
Told through the eyes of a videographer, the film follows two lovers — Mardar and Moudan — whose passion drives them to the edge of life and death.

The narrator, a pragmatic observer, has a lover named Meimei, yet their relationship lacks the burning intensity he once captured on film.
Believing Mardar’s love to be nothing but illusion, Meimei later discovers the truth upon seeing the bodies of Mardar and Moudan.
In her awakening, she yearns for a love as consuming and pure as theirs — a love the narrator cannot return.
And so, faced with her plea, he quietly turns away.
